Abstract

In the Black Sea area, states undergoing post-communist transition experience different political and economical developments which are heavily dependent on their geographical position, access to resources and the influence of the power blocs in the region. This paper aims to identify and illustrate correlations between the economic performance of the area states and the positioning of national policies towards the power blocs in the area. The research takes into account the natural potential of each state, respectively of the energy resources. The results aim to quantify how the clear positioning towards a power bloc influences the appropriate level of economic development corresponding to the human and geographic potential of each country.
