Book Review

A review makes an argument. The most important element of a review is that it is a commentary, not merely a summary. It allows you to enter into dialogue and discussion with the work’s creator and with other audiences. You can offer agreement or disagreement and identify where you find the work exemplary or deficient in its knowledge, judgments, or organization. You should clearly state your opinion of the work in question, and that statement will probably resemble other types of academic writing, with a thesis statement, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Peer Review Process

The scientific reviewing process of the articles proposed for publication in Papers of the „Dimitrie Cantemir” Geographic Seminar consists in the following phases:

A first phase consists in receiving the articles by the editorial board, and checking up the English language (if the  language is not accurate, the paper will be sent back to the authors in order to be corrected.)

Each article will be dated, codified and transmitted (without mentioning the name of the author) to two reviwers, designated in accordance with the subject of the paper. Within max. 2 months, each reviewer must trasmit to the editorial board the scientific observations on the reviewed paper, by filling in the evaluation sheet (observations on the originality, scientific level and methodological and deonthological norms).

In the second phase, after the evaluation sheet was received, the authors will receive the scientific comments of the reviewers, and they will have to operate the required changes. If necessary, they will resend the modified papers to the reviewers, and they will see if the requirements were fulfilled.

If all requirements are met, the papers will be published in the journal. The authors of those papers that do not meet the criteria for publication, will be notified on this aspect, with a written justification of the article rejection.

     The reviewing process is confidential.
